BREAKING NEWS!

Strictly Tap Dance Fever (exclusively at The Mandela @ Joburg Theatre from February 15 - March 6)  now provides even more pizazz!

With just one week to go before the Strictly Tap Dance Fever cast arrives on stage direct from their UK tour, the Joburg Theatre has announced that not only will the cast feature 12 dancers ready to dazzle the audience, but three world renowned singers will be joining them on stage - ready to charm the Joburg public with their wonderful vocals.

A late cast confirmation brings back a Joburg Theatre crowd favourite, Simon Schofield, who thrilled audiences as part of The Twelve Tenors in February 2010 and proved so popular with those who saw him perform that he was immediately invited to return to South Africa in May to record the main love theme for the popular local teen movie BAKGAT! 2 - which was released to great success in September last year. "I fell in love with South Africa and its people during my first visit to your wonderful country a year ago, and even then I planned to return as often as my schedule allowed. I'm thrilled to be able to join the cast of Strictly Tap Dance Fever so that I can once again experience the joy of performing for Joburg Theatre audiences. I'm looking forward to reconnecting with everyone soon," says Simon. Joining Simon on stage to divide the vocals will be the talented Jon Hawkins and impressive Lara Denning.

Audiences will be taken on a non-stop, adrenalin-driven journey of pure delight and nostalgia, performing hit after hit including Minnie The Moocher; Hit The Road, Jack; Bye Bye Love, Mr Bojangles, Fever, I Got Rhythm, I Love Rock 'n Roll and many others, whilst the dancers dazzle with their tap prowess. Joining the cast on stage intermittently through the show will be local guest celebrity artist Amor Vittone, who will entertain with some of her own original tracks as well as join the other vocalists for group numbers.
Starting in the era when Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers were the stars of the day, the show tap dances its way through history, thrilling and exciting audiences with the vibrant tap dance styles that entertained generations through the ages. This brand new production for 2011 features fantastic musical classics mashed with modern day beat. Acapella tap sounds can be heard as the show opens and - as the taps build - so does the energy and spectacle. Soon you discover there is so much more than tap in this show: swing, jive and sensational singers add to the cocktail of pure showbiz heaven.

Strictly Tap Dance Fever is brought to you by Spirit Productions - the people that brought us two of Joburg Theatre’s highest-grossing and most popular shows of the past decade: Spirit Of The Dance and Le Grand Cirque
